Abanilla still conservers its history with narrow streets and medieval manors. To get to know Abanilla better we suggest you walk around the town and absorb the ambiance looking at the historical buildings. Of which one in particular is called Casa Pintada build in XVIII its called this because of its bright color frontage. With rectangular frieze and complete with family coat of arms.

Very near you can find the Casa De La Encomienda that use to be a occupied by the commander of the village, they emphasize the grandness of the building with its interior design and many vaults. Nowadays the building is used as a library, municipal offices and meeting rooms.

In the main square sits the town hall built in 1762, surrounded by the old arcade of rock that still preserves its history from the very early days of the town. And the church that dates back to 1709 is worth a good look around with its sober murcian style that contrasts with the VIIII century altar piece. In front of the church in Abanilla the ancestral Casa Cabrera of the XVIII century presents an artistic culmination of style with the familiar Shield of inspiration Rococo. The Square of Punsima hosts one of the last working public washing places in the Murcia region.

Then you can lose yourself walking around the compounded ancient framework of Abanilla. Its charming narrow streets from medieval origin, until you reach the statue of Jesus Christ at the top of the town where you can admire some of the magnificent views of Abanilla and the surrounding area.
