Some natural areas in the region of Murcia are well known, however there are are few that are undiscovered. La Sierra de la Pila offers a great diversity of pine forests and natural beauty.  An increasing erosion effect to a great part of the south slopes of the Sierra de pila make up part of this fantastic scenery, and is caused by a multitude of ravines in the higher hillside until you reach the bad lands on the lower levels with it corroded peaks and mesas.  Like other sierras of the region, La Pila produces big thermals on the south facing slopes with very little vegetation in contrast to the shaded north mountain face. The winters are very and rain is normally expected in October and April (43-53mm) The annual temperature varies between 16-17°, while in the summer rising to around 24-27°. Whilst walking in the beautiful surroundings be sure to look for some of Spain's wonderful wildlife, from theTop of Pilar Mountain Range majestic "Aguila Real"Royal Eagle to the more popular Peregrine Falcons, not forgetting the many wild boar and deer that wonder freely throughout the mountains. In all there is a great diversity of species that can be found in the forest and mountain region.

There are traces of archeological sites all over the sierra de la pila mountains, originating from various ancient civilizations. The Iberians, Romans and the Arabs have all left there footprint on the landscape for you to discover on you many walks.Weather on foot or mountain bike you can explore the diverse landscapes and charming areas of this pila, with something for everyone, energetic or tranquil.
